1 hurt in crash with school van

A transportation bus and a Honda Civic were involved in a minor crash in West Acton on December 2.

The driver of the Honda was taken to Emerson Hospital with minor injuries, police Capt. Brian Goldman said. That driver also received a citation for failure to use care. There were no other injuries.

The collision occurred around 3:30 p.m. at Laws Brook Road and Conant Street. Goldman said the bus belonged to the Acton Area Special Education Collaborative, and a spokesperson for Acton Public Schools confirmed the bus did not belong to the public school district. The bus was carrying five passengers. 

A section of the road was closed while the police and fire departments were on scene.

“They sent an engine and two ambulances, because anybody that’s on board the bus, they have to check and make sure they’re OK,” Goldman said. “They shut down part of the road because of the amount of equipment out there and not because of the seriousness of the crash.”
