Assunta I. “Sue” (Rizzitano) Castrichini, a lifelong Acton resident, died peacefully at home on June 3, 2026. She was 101. Sue was the beloved wife of the late Alexander C. Castrichini, who died in 2004.

Sue was born at Emerson Hospital on February 27, 1925, to James and Francesca Rizzitano. She lived with her family on Musketaquid Road at the base of Nashawtuc Hill, where she loved to sled and ski. Sue and Al’s labor of love was building a home themselves on Monsen Road. Sue lived there until she was 99 years old before moving in next door with her son Peter.

Sue worked as a real estate title examiner for the law firm Corish & Vincent in Somerville and at the registry of deeds in Cambridge for 65 years until retiring “early” at 90. During her career she made lifelong friends who visited her regularly.

Her many passions included entertaining and cooking. She was known for her homemade chocolate-chip cookies, cheesecake, apple pies, whoopie pies, chocolate eclairs, meatballs, sauce, and countless other delicious dishes. Her table was always full, and guests left stuffed and smiling. She especially looked forward to the annual Christmas ravioli-making tradition with the entire family and enjoyed seeing great-grandkids covered in flour. Sue was also an avid wreath maker and tray painter. Her works of art were proudly displayed in her home. Recently she took up bird watching; nothing got her riled up more than squirrels on the feeders.

Sue was a connector, bringing all branches of family and friends together routinely to celebrate events and just to be together enjoying life. She made everyone feel welcome and wanted them to enjoy themselves as her guest.

She is survived by her son Peter and daughter-in-law Beverly Castrichini of Acton; grandchildren Ashley and husband Adam Mikkleson, with great-grandchildren Ollie, Alex, Ellie, Beatrice, and Bastian of Acton; Alexander and wife Emily Castrichini of Acton; Peter and wife Kate Castrichini of Beverly; and Trevor and wife Patty with great-grandchild Patrick Castrichini of Boston.

Family and friends will gather for visiting hours at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Acton Center, on Sunday, June 7, from 4-7 p.m. Her funeral will be held Monday, June 8, at 9:30 a.m. from Dee Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church at Holy Family Parish, 12 Monument Square, Acton Center. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to support the new emergency room building at Emerson Hospital by donating to their Transforming Health Campaign.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Acton. To share a memory or condolence on Sue’s tribute page, visit DeeFuneralHome.com.
