Carmel C. (Baron) Poirier of Acton died peacefully at age 85 on September 16, 2026, surrounded and held by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Victor L. Poirier, who passed on August 6, 2025. Carmel was born on June 8, 1941, in Lowell, the daughter of the late Hector A. Baron and Lena A. (Douville) Baron. She is survived by her two daughters Donna Garcia of Tyngsboro and Nicolle Longman of Middlebury, Vermont; three grandchildren Sarah Garcia of Nashua, New Hampshire, Kevin Garcia of Woburn, and Benjamin Longman of Middlebury, Vermont; four sisters Priscilla Beauley of Dover, New Hampshire, Rachel Mousseau of Dracut, Suzanne Grondin of Lowell, and Louise Mousseau of Dracut; and one brother Gerard Baron of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was predeceased by her son Michael Poirier (1982) and is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Carmel grew up in Dracut, attending Ste. Jeanne d’Arc elementary school and St. Joseph’s High School. It was at Ste. Jeanne d’Arc that she met the love of her life, Victor, beginning a devoted partnership that would span 64 years. Their enduring love became the heart of the family they built together.

Carmel was known by many names — Carmel, Carmela, Cammy, Mom, Grandma, and Mimi — and each reflected a treasured place she held in someone’s life. Warm, thoughtful, and deeply caring, she had a natural gift for making people feel remembered and loved. She was often the first to check on someone, offer kind words, send a card, or lend steady support.

Carmel found joy in life’s simple beauties, especially flowers; a fresh bouquet on her counter was a familiar sight and a source of daily happiness. She took great pride in caring for her yard and home, but her greatest joy was caring for her family, especially her three grandchildren, whom she loved immensely. Her kindness, attentiveness, and love will remain with all who knew her.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday, October 1, at 9:30 a.m. at the chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, 96 Riverneck Road, Chelmsford. Kindly meet at the cemetery chapel. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford. Funeral directors are Paul A. Hardy Jr. and Jennifer Lebaropoulos Hardy. For a guestbook, visit chelmsfordfuneralhome.com.
