Concordians sought to launch an annual event in Monument Square celebrating International Peace Day, traditionally observed on September 21, says co-organizer Tim Nagaoka.

The inaugural Acton Peace Crane, a paper-folding event, required rescheduling — twice — due to inclement weather in late September. Undaunted, the organizers followed through on October 4.

“With over 80 participants,” Nagaoka says, “we made a little more than 100 paper cranes that decorated the lawn of the square. With the help of participants, we also made two 6-foot-tall giant paper cranes. This was our first attempt, but we hope to make it an annual fall event in Acton.”
