Gloria White Guernsey, 85

Gloria White Guernsey passed away peacefully at her home on Sentry Hill in York, Maine, on Tuesday night, June 30, 2026.

She was born in Cambridge on August 14, 1940, the daughter of Philip D. and Gloria E. White.

Gloria married David W. Guernsey on August 12, 1978, and they shared the next 47 years.

Gloria graduated from Simmons College in Boston with a bachelor of science degree.

She worked for over 30 years as a financial manager for Sail and Inc. magazines, retiring in 2003.

Gloria’s kindness and generosity of spirit brought happiness and joy to all those around her. She was active with a wide variety of interests including gardening, reading, and skiing. She took special joy in her flower gardens at her house in Kingfield, Maine, where she welcomed myriad relatives and other guests, which she dubbed “The N & N,” for nieces and nephews.

Gloria is survived by her husband and her siblings Dierdre Leighton of Belmont, Antoinette Haffner of New Canaan, Connecticut, and Jonathan White of Carlisle.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Gloria for an hour of visitation on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 10-11 a.m. in the Acton Funeral Home, 74 Belknap Street, Acton. Her funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial is to be in Green Cemetery, Carlisle.
