Kevin Pickering named building commissioner
Town officials said in a statement that Pickering is “well-equipped to lead the Building and Inspections Department.”

There’s a new top cop enforcing building codes in Acton.
Kevin Pickering has assumed the role of building commissioner, officials announced last week. He succeeds Paul Creedon.
Pickering spent seven years as a building inspector in Belmont before taking a similar gig in Acton in 2022. He’s been serving as interim commissioner since late July, when Creedon left for a job as Weston’s building inspector and land use coordinator.
Town officials said in a statement that Pickering “brings a wealth of experience to this role” and that he’s “well-equipped to lead the Building and Inspections Department.”
The vacancy created by Creedon’s exit was one of several in the upper echelons of town government this summer, with the retirement of Fire Chief Thomas Judge and the exit of Chief Information Officer Amalia McCaffrey. Those roles are now full. The town will need to find a new permanent chief financial officer following the firing of Anthony Ansaldi.
