Oh, deer — be careful

Acton Bridge contributing photographer Jean Fain snapped this buck in a field off Sudbury Road. She writes: “Unless you’re a wildlife enthusiast, you probably don’t know that the deer ‘rutting’ or breeding season is here. … Watching a buck chase down a doe is like watching The Nature Channel, but in real life.” She notes that this time of year presents hazards for motorists: “Bucks will be more aggressive, less cautious, and more likely to unexpectedly dash across the street. To avoid becoming a traffic statistic, drive carefully with open eyes, especially at dawn and dusk.”
