It may have been cold and gray outside, but green-thumbed Concordians still gathered at the Fowler library branch this month for a winter “seed sow.”

Youngsters and elders made makeshift terrariums out of gallon jugs and planted seeds on January 14 that germinate in cold weather.

This is the fourth year of the seed sow initiative and is one of many efforts to grow native, pollinator-supporting plants in town. The Pollinator Health Committee, Acton-Carlisle High School Green Team, Land Conservation Trust, West Acton Green Thumbs, Garden Club of Acton, Verrill Farm, and the library collaborate on the events.
