Outgoing Willard Principal Matthew Lucey was surprised with a celebration honoring his years of leadership.
On June 15, the Willard Elementary School community surprised outgoing Principal Matthew Lucey with a celebration honoring his years of leadership. Students and staff gathered for a “clap out,” applauding Lucey as he exited the school and walked to a new pathway named “Lucey Lane” in his honor. Waiting there were parents, members of the Willard Parent Teacher Group, schools Superintendent Laurie Hunter, district administrators, and Lucey’s family, including his newborn grandson, Teddy, dressed in a Willard onesie. The sign was created by Billy Crosby of Crosby Design in Acton. PTG Vice President Lauren Judge concluded her remarks with: “We are better for having had you lead the way. We will miss you.”
