Probation for woman in hoax device case
Under a deal in Acton District Court, April Greuter could avoid a guilty finding stemming from the August 2025 incident.

A woman accused of pulling fire alarms and dropping a hoax device near Nine Acre Corner last year will get probation but could avoid a guilty finding under a deal in Acton District Court.
Police evacuated businesses on August 28 after April Grueter allegedly dropped a suitcase full of clothing and paperwork in the Nine Acre Farm Convenience & Deli and said there was going to be a fire.
Her sister told an officer that Grueter had been diagnosed with “mental health issues,” per a police report.
Judge Maureen McManus dismissed charges during a court appearance last month of disorderly conduct and tampering with a fire alarm, court records show.
McManus agreed to dismiss the remaining charges of using a hoax device and triggering a false fire alarm if Grueter completes nine months of probation and complies with court orders, including continuing mental health treatment.
