Residents warned of phishing scams
Examples of bogus emails asked recipients to verify personal information to qualify for housing programs.

The town is warning residents about a phishing scam involving emails that falsely claim to offer housing assistance.
Town officials last week publicized examples of bogus emails that ask recipients to verify personal information to qualify for housing programs. The messages may contain suspicious links or requests for sensitive information.
Residents are advised not to click on any links or share personal details. Instead, they’re encouraged to verify the legitimacy of any message by contacting the town directly.
The town outlined common warning signs of phishing attempts, including urgent language, generic greetings, unfamiliar email addresses, unexpected attachments, and unsolicited requests for information.
Officials emphasized that the town does not ask for personal information through unsolicited emails.
Suspicious messages can be reported to Acton Police at (978) 318-3400.
