The Acton Bridge thanks retiring editor Betsy Levinson
Going forward, Betsy will carry the new honorary title of editor emerita on our masthead.

When concerned, engaged Concordians took stock of the local news landscape in spring 2022 and found it wanting, it sparked a dream of launching what ultimately became The Acton Bridge. In search of a professional staff to bring the town the quality news it craved and deserved, they sought the help of veteran journalist Betsy Levinson.
Betsy, who had covered this town and surrounds for years as a reporter and editor, volunteered her services at first, working for free through the summer of 2022 to get the paper in shape for its first print issue that October.
Since then, she’s taken on many roles, from editing stories to recruiting freelancers to capturing the spirit of Acton in her feature stories and keeping readers apprised of the vital work of the Finance Committee.
Betsy has attempted to step away before, including in April 2023, but The Bridge has lured her back time and again, drawing on her encyclopedic knowledge of the people and places that make Acton so complex and so special.
With Betsy having given so much to The Bridge, it’s only fair that her beloved family, her many friends, and the cultural organizations in which she plays an essential role now have the chance to enjoy more of her attention.
As she retires, we thank her deeply for helping uplift the non-profit community newspaper we all read today.
Going forward, Betsy will carry the new honorary title of editor emerita on our masthead. Through her work to inform our community, she has already secured her place in Acton’s rich history.
