Voter registration deadline set for Saturday, August 22
Voters are encouraged to send ballots early for this fall’s contested races.

The voter registration deadline for next month’s state primary is fast approaching.
The clock is also ticking for people seeking a vote-by-mail ballot.
Democrats are settling two-way races for U.S. senator, governor’s councilor, and district attorney. Republicans will winnow a race for their party’s gubernatorial nomination.
The last day to register or change party status is Saturday, August 22, at 5 p.m. Voters have until August 25 at 5 p.m. to request their vote-by-mail ballot.
Early in-person voting at the Town House will start on August 22 and continue from August 24 through August 28.
Mail-in ballots must arrive at the Town Clerk’s office by 8 p.m. on election day — September 1 — to count, so Town Clerk Kaari Mai Tari urges voters to send their ballots early.
“It’s always hard” to predict voter turnout, Mai Tari told The Acton Bridge, but with contested races this fall, “there could be an increase.”
