Acton Public Works begins its seasonal water main flushing, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning March 17.

When flushing is happening in your neighborhood, refrain from using unnecessary water; this will reduce the chance of drawing sediment into your property.

Flushing enhances water quality. It allows sediment buildup in the water mains, especially at dead ends and in low-flow areas, to work its way out of the system. – Illustration Farago.com

The schedule below outlines the dates and general areas. More information and a map are available at www.concordma.gov/flushing.

March 17 to 21: Cambridge Turnpike, Lexington Road, Virginia Road, Bedford Street, Old Bedford Road.

March 24 to 26: Liberty Street, Monument Street, Lowell Road (south of Barretts Mill Road)

March 26 to March 28: Lowell Road (north of Barretts Mill Road)

This flushing is necessary to improve water quality. For questions or concerns, contact the Water and Sewer Division at (978) 318-3250.
