A ‘yes’ vote for Article 36 protects wildlife

The environment is in our hands; let’s protect it.

If you live in Acton, this is your opportunity to protect wildlife. Two dedicated residents have worked with the community over many months researching, listening, learning, and sharing the dangers of currently used common practices by pest control companies. The poison used in their traps is essentially a tasty, super-sized dose of Warfarin. It causes animals who eat it to bleed to death slowly, which makes them easy targets for other animals. Owls, hawks, foxes, and even our own pets eat the poisoned animals and they, in turn, get sick and could die. These poisons are so dangerous they are not available for retail sale.

If Article 36 passes, the ban will not begin right away. Businesses who rely on this poison will have time to adjust their practices. If passed, this article will petition the state legislature to make it possible to ban this type of poison.

The environment is in our hands; let’s protect it.
