Back Sam Hiersteiner for his ‘constructive independence’
As a working parent with young children in our schools, Sam has real stakes in Acton’s long-term trajectory.
Our family moved to Acton four years ago, drawn by its schools and the promise of a town that balances tradition with thoughtful progress. As we have two children now in the Acton elementary schools, the decisions made by our Select Board shape our family’s daily life and the future our children will inherit. We strongly endorse Sam Hiersteiner for Select Board.
Over the past several years, we’ve had the opportunity to see how Sam approaches both family life and community responsibility. He brings seriousness, preparation, and a genuine respect for differing viewpoints. Those qualities matter — particularly at a time when Acton faces consequential decisions about growth, fiscal stewardship, and the character of our civic life.
Acton’s institutions are strong, but strong institutions require renewal. When leadership becomes too concentrated among familiar voices, even well-intentioned governance can begin to feel closed or predictable. Healthy civic culture depends on openness, transparency, and the steady inclusion of new perspectives.
Sam offers both competence and constructive independence. He understands that fiscal discipline, development decisions, and public trust are interconnected — and that confidence in town government depends not just on outcomes, but on process.
As a working parent with young children in our schools, Sam has real stakes in Acton’s long-term trajectory.
Acton will be strongest when its governance evolves alongside its community. Sam Hiersteiner would help ensure that it does.
