Banfield ‘exceptionally prepared’ for Select Board
I believe his years on the Finance Committee provide the strongest foundation anyone could bring to the Select Board.
The Town of Acton is facing a number of significant challenges — determining the future of the MCI site, maintaining essential services while absorbing the cost of the new middle school, expanding affordable housing, and continuing our transition away from emitting energy sources, among others. In this moment, the Select Board must listen carefully to many perspectives and make thoughtful, well-grounded decisions.
Dean Banfield is exceptionally prepared for this responsibility. He is an experienced volunteer and a genuinely attentive listener. Dean has contributed to Acton in many capacities, including service on the Natural Resources Commission, the Community Preservation Committee, and the Solar Implementation Task Force, where he also served as chair. Last year, he also served as deputy town moderator.
I believe his years on the Finance Committee — including as chair in 2020 — provide the strongest foundation anyone could bring to the Select Board. As a fellow member of the Finance Committee, I was consistently impressed by Dean’s ability to ask incisive questions and offer suggestions that went straight to the heart of the issue. He brings clarity, perspective, and, when needed, a light touch of humor that helps move difficult discussions forward.
I am grateful that Dean has chosen to step forward at a time when Acton faces complex decisions with long-term consequences. I encourage residents to learn more about his background and goals at Banfield4theBoard.com.
Please join me in voting — on or before March 31 — to elect Dean Banfield to the Select Board.
