Banfield understands town’s financial challenges
Dean has the proven skills to make sound financial decisions after more than 30 years in Acton and service on several town committees.
I strongly endorse Dean Banfield for the Select Board.
Acton needs experienced leaders capable of the difficult task ahead — leading the town through tough decisions with long-term financial implications, decisions that will directly impact the degree to which Acton remains affordable for young families, their parents, and grandparents.
The Select Board will soon be evaluating funding requests for public safety and public works facilities, expansion of wastewater treatment capacity, affordable housing projects, possible acquisition of a Superfund site, and the reuse of the prison property. Each of these multimillion-dollar investments comes at a time when the town’s debt burden is already at peak levels. Electing knowledgeable, experienced Select Board members is critical to making the best choices and balancing the resulting tax burden with the needs of the community. Dean is that candidate.
Having served with Dean on the Finance Committee for several years, I know firsthand his understanding of the town’s cost structure, his ability to come up with creative solutions, and his commitment to spending wisely. He has the proven skills to make sound financial decisions. After more than 30 years in Acton and service on several town committees, Dean understands the town, its history, and its character. He has relationships with citizens, neighbors, and leaders and has a working knowledge of our governance processes.
It’s very clear — Dean understands the assignment, knows how to get things done, and is well prepared to step in and serve as a Select Board member.
