The Acton-Carlisle boys hockey team last week ran into two undefeated teams — Waltham and Tewksbury — dropping both games despite the heroics of co-captain Sam Griswold in goal, who made a total of 100 saves in the two contests. Tewksbury bested the Patriots, 5-0, on January 10.

  • Team record: Overall 4-4; Dual County League 2-2
  • Big game: Griswold had 60 saves on 65 Tewksbury shots for a .917 save percentage.
  • Up next: The Pats were scheduled to take on North Andover on Wednesday.

Waltham 3, CCHS 1

Defenseman Will Steffens scored his first CCHS goal, and Griswold stopped 40 shots, but the Waltham offense scored three times to stay undefeated.

  • Big game: Owen Moynihan and Declan Daley got the assists on Steffens’ goal. For Daley, the team’s leading goal-scorer, it marked his fifth straight game with a goal or assist.
  • Game changer: After the Patriots took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, the Hawks tallied three unanswered goals for the win.
