The Acton-Carlisle football team survived a late Waltham comeback attempt and evened its record at 2-2 with a 20-14 road win over the Hawks on October 3.
Team record: Overall 2-2, Dual County League 1-0
Big game: Quarterback Wes Morse (166 yards rushing, two touchdowns) and running back Thomas Bury (99 yards, one touchdown) led the Patriots.
Game changer: Bury had a clutch 65-yard sprint down the left sideline to break a 14-all tie late in the fourth quarter.
Unsung heroes: The Patriots secondary thwarted Waltham threats throughout the game, including denying a Hawks touchdown attempt with just three seconds left in the game. Defensive back Finn Ruhmann made a crucial stop on a deep pass in the third quarter. Peter Burke, Henry Jackson, and Morse also had key deflections.
Up next: The Pats were to host Wayland on October 10 in the first Dual County League clash between the two schools since a 27-7 Patriots win in 2022.
