The Acton-Carlisle High School rugby team improved to 3-2 with a 24-5 win over Blue Hills.

Three minutes into the May 15 match saw CC on the board with its first try after a quick tap by Jamie Poole led to a diving score. Three minutes later, Will Botfield scooped up the ball and drove through a ruck for a diving try. Poole’s conversion put the Patriots up 12-0.

Blue Hills battled with ferocious runs, but CC met these head on, including crushing stops by Tyler Colgan and Geo Gaetan Anyouzo.

Near the end of the half,  George Schweitzer threw a deep ball in the lineout — the first in the team’s history — to Jayden Sandlin, who dragged multiple opponents across the line for the Pats’ third try, making the score 17-0 at the half.

Blue Hills had solid defensive stops and attacks in the second half, and it put a try on the board. But despite three Patriots getting yellow cards and competing player-down for consecutive five-minute intervals, Poole put another across the line; the conversion made it 24-5, which held until the final whistle.

The team’s last match was scheduled for May 22 against Malden Catholic.
