CCHS rugby ends season with win over Chelmsford
The team closed out its season in cold, wet conditions with a 31-15 win; the Patriots finish at 4-2.

The Acton-Carlisle High School rugby team closed out its season in cold, wet conditions, earning a 31-15 win over Chelmsford High’s B side. The Patriots finish at 4-2.
Acton-Carlisle started strongly, with outside center Tommy McKenna opening the scoring after a clean sequence from the backline, set up by solid work from the forwards.
In the first half, Geo Anyouzo and Sam Beal led the charge with relentless defensive work around the ruck, backed up by Jayden Sandlin and Will Botsfield. Centers Tyler Colgan and McKenna kept Chelmsford’s wide attack in check with hard-hitting defense.
Before halftime, the Patriots added two more tries — one a powerful finish from Anyouzo through heavy traffic and the other a heads-up intercept by McKenna, who raced untouched to the line. Jamie Poole converted all three tries, sending CC into the break-up 21-0.
Chelmsford came out strong in the second half and narrowed the gap to 21-10. But CC responded with poise. Poole kept the tempo high in attack with adroit decision making and Beal crashed over for a key try to push the lead to 26-10. Chelmsford answered with a long-range effort, but Beal sealed the game with his second try off a scrum in the final minutes, cementing the victory.
