CCHS rugby tops Chelmsford, improves to 2-0

Acton-Carlisle High School rugby delivered a spirited 26-10 win over Chelmsford’s B side this month.
Chelmsford’s attack around the ruck was disciplined and relentless throughout the match, but the Patriots, led by Geo Gaetan Anyouzo and Jayden Sandlin — who scored his first try — absorbed wave after wave of pressure. Harry Gamber, Tobi Schellhammer, Sam Beal, and George Schweitzer brought intensity up front, and Luca Bucci was tireless at the breakdown. Will Botfield stopped multiple runners with low, scything tackles.
Tyler Colgin and Rhys Johnson shut down Chelmsford’s big runners with aggressive line speed, enabling the Patriots to gain control. Built on a platform of gritty defense, CC’s attack began to click. Declan Daley crossed the line thanks to crisp passing and excellent support, while fellow newcomer Tommy McKenna also impressed. Kai Worobey was strong on returns, and scrum half Will Gesta provided clean service and solid defense throughout.
The standout performance came from Jamie Poole, who guided the team with poise, dotted down for a try (5 points) and three conversions (2 points each).
This victory showcased the team’s hard work, with a huge step up on defense.
The next match is away against Belmont High’s Development side on April 29.
