CCHS golf trio captures DCL Invitational for 2nd straight year
In erratic weather conditions, 26 of the Dual County League’s best golfers teed up at Wedgewood Pines in Stow as the DCL Invitational brought another exciting and competitive season to a close. With a combined low score of 115, Acton-Carlisle High School captured the team title for a second consecutive year.
The Patriots were led by co-captains Ahrinn Desai and Theo Price, who each carded a solid round of 1-over 37. Glen Murdough rounded out the scoring by posting a 39, tying him for fourth overall with three other competitors.
Originally scheduled as an 18-hole event, the tournament was shortened to nine holes after heavy rains left standing water across much of the back nine.
Capping off their strong seasons, both Desai and Price earned All-Conference honors, a fitting finish to an outstanding year for CCHS golf.
Early this week, Sophie Redmond represented CCHS at the 34th annual Interscholastic Golf Championship at Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Connecticut by virtue of her outstanding season-long scoring average.
Although her driver and putter took time to find their rhythm on the front nine, she caught fire on the back nine, shooting 2-over and finishing the day with a 10-over 81, tied for 13th overall among 60 of the top female high school golfers in New England.
The event was presented by the Council of New England Secondary School Principals Association.
Plenty to cheer about: Top honors for CCHS

The Acton-Carlisle game day and performance cheer teams took first-place honors in their categories at the October 25 Shake the Bridge competition at Southbridge Middle/High School. CCHS also won for outstanding choreography. On October 26, the game day team placed second at the Hilloween Invitational at Shepherd Hill Regional High School. Bedford football bests Pats, 31-14

Bedford outlasted the Acton-Carlisle football team, 31-14, in a tough Dual County League contest.
Team record: Overall 3-3, Dual County League 2-2
Big game: After Bedford posted an early 10-0 lead, two seniors led a CC comeback in the second quarter. Wide receiver Peter Burke had a great 25-yard touchdown catch, and running back Lewis Simon (six carries for 50 yards) had a 10-yard touchdown run to cut Bedford’s lead to 17-14.
Turning point: Bedford’s defense made two big stops in the third quarter when the Patriots trailed 17-14 and were trying to take the lead.
Unsung hero: Running back Thomas Bury finished with 85 yards rushing. Sophomore quarterback Ryan Duffy, in his first career varsity start, threw a key touchdown pass to Burke and ran the offense smoothly.
Up next: The Pats traveled to Westford Academy on October 30 to finish off their pre-playoff schedule.
