CCHS football slogs to victory, 19-0, over Westford Academy
On a soggy, windy night, the Acton-Carlisle football team stuck to the ground game and posted a clean, efficient shutout, 19-0, against host Westford Academy on October 30.
Team record: Overall 4-4, DCL 3-2
Big game: Running backs Aiden Bayes (two touchdowns) and Thomas Bury (one TD) led the way for the Patriots.
Turning point: With the Patriots clinging to a 6-0 lead and Westford on the move in the third quarter, cornerback Peter Burke made a clutch interception to turn the tide. The Pats then drove deep into Westford territory on a mucky night when field position was crucial.
Unsung heroes: The Patriots won the battle of the trenches on both sides of the ball. Liam King, Tyler Colgan, Eric Nick, Jack McWalter, and Owen Root led the way on the offensive line.
Up next: The Patriots battled Lincoln-Sudbury in an away game last night.
CCHS senior earns state shooting title
