Cross country shines in preseason contest
Boys varsity cross country swept the first eight spots in an unscored mixed-division meet on September 10.
Acton-Carlisle High School boys varsity cross country swept the first eight spots, with just 30 seconds separating those top finishers, in an unscored mixed-division meet on September 10.
This season warmup (including small and large schools) pitted CCHS against Lincoln-Sudbury, Waltham, and Wayland on Lincoln-Sudbury’s 2-mile course.
Big day: Joey Bodenrader outpaced teammates Brendan Quinn and Charlie MacDonald for the individual win.
Unsung heroes: In the junior varsity race, ninth grader Nick Baughman, running in his first high school competition, led the entire race, only to be outkicked by Lincoln-Sudbury in the final 200 meters. Teammate Henry Bonzagni finished fifth, also in his first high school cross country race.
Up next: Acton-Carlisle was to open its season officially on September 17, hosting Westford Academy.
