Cyclists to revere the famed midnight ride
Not a race, not a charity ride, just an opportunity for fun and friendship among members of Boston’s cycling community.
‘Tis all very well for the children to hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere;
But why should our names be quite forgot,
Who rode as boldly and well, God wot?
Why should I ask? The reason is clear —
Our names were many and his … Revere!

On a chilly Saturday night, dozens of bike riders made the second annual trek from the North End of Boston, through Charlestown, Medford, Arlington, and Lexington, along the route Paul Revere took on April 18, 1775. On to Acton, past the “capture site” we rode (with lights), through the mist, until greeted by the warm welcome of Tom Wilson at Acton’s Wright Tavern (together with a bit of history and some fine libations and chow).
Organized by Acton’s Wade Rubinstein and Phil Posner, Timothy Wilson of Wilmington, and Jim Cadenhead of Arlington, the now annual event is drawing participants from all over metro Boston. Not a race, not a charity ride, just an opportunity for fun and friendship among members of Boston’s now legendary cycling community. Next year, even bigger and better.
For those who can’t wait, join us for Paul Revere’s Bike Ride to benefit the Acton Museum on May 16. (Find more information at concordmuseum.org.) All net proceeds from the event will support the Acton Museum’s educational programs, making it possible for more than 15,000 schoolchildren to learn from the museum’s unique collection and expert educators each year.
