Dean Banfield will bring experience, energy, enthusiasm to Select Board

I am writing in support of Dean Banfield for election to the Select Board. Experience matters. As other letter writers have pointed out, Dean has many years of experience on municipal boards and committees. In addition he has energy and enthusiasm. I agree that the best government is represented by people of different generations. However, being a member of a particular generation alone is not enough. The learning curve even for a new Select Board member with substantial committee experience is long.
A new member with no experience in municipal government essentially reduces the efficacy of the Select Board from five to four members for at least a year. At a time when many complex decisions are facing the town, we need someone who can hit the ground running. Dean Banfield is that person.
