Exclude schools PR from the Briefing Book

Why are we spending time and money promoting ourselves to ourselves? Something is fundamentally wrong here.

Why does the Town Meeting Briefing Book include a six-page promotional piece for the schools? What was the cost of producing, printing, and mailing these extra pages to every household?

And, more importantly, why do we even need a promotional campaign for the schools? Why are we spending time and money promoting ourselves to ourselves? Something is fundamentally wrong here.

We all know that our tax dollars paid for it, whether it was part of the school budget, the town clerk budget, or another cost center.

Taxes are already too high, plus town and school budgets are already stressed. In addition, publication of Town Meeting material should be factually neutral and not an attempt to sway voters by adding unnecessary window dressing.

We hope to see this item excluded from the Briefing Book in future years.
