Field hockey routs Newton South, 8-1
The resounding win came days after the Pats’ first loss of the season against Lincoln-Sudbury.

Days after its first loss of the season, the CCHS field hockey team regained its stride with a resounding 8-1 win over Newton South in a Dual County League match on October 3. The Patriots remain undefeated in DCL play.
Team record: Overall 5-1-4; Dual County League 2-0-1
Big game: Lindsay Cain registered a hat trick. Elizabeth Sproule added two more tallies. The remaining goals were scored by co-captain Brynn Chaffee, Maddie Minkin, and Skyla Rigazio.
Unsung heroes: Starting goalie Lexie Ramirez and backup netminder Lydia Micali teamed up to turn away nearly every Newton South opportunity.
Up next: With renewed momentum, the Patriots were to travel to Waltham High School on October 8 for another league matchup.

Lincoln-Sudbury 2, CCHS 1
The Patriots made a valiant effort to extend their undefeated record into October, but a third-quarter Lincoln-Sudbury goal undermined that hope and gave the visiting Warriors a narrow win on September 30.

Team record: Overall 4-1-4; Dual County League 1-0-1
Big game: Abby Ruhmann scored the Patriots’ lone goal, a firebolt that tied the game early in the second half; it was Ruhmann’s fifth goal of the season.
Unsung heroes: The Patriots’ defense kept it close throughout, under constant pressure from a dynamic Warriors offense.
