Field hockey stays undefeated with 6-1 win over Chelmsford
The Patriots convincingly defeated Bedford on September 10, and held the Franklin Panthers scoreless on September 8.

The Acton-Carlisle High School field hockey team topped Chelmsford, 6-1, on September 12 to extend its unbeaten streak.
After a series of tight games to start the season, the Patriots offense erupted early, scoring three goals in the first quarter and never looking back.

Team record: Overall 3-0-2; Dual County League 1-0-1
Big game: Scarlett Mirak dazzled with a hat trick. Abby Ruhmann converted yet another penalty stroke, making her 3-for-3 on the season. The other two goals were scored by Bridget Fivek (on a sparkling assist from co-captain Kaia Triola) and Elizabeth Sproule.
Unsung hero: Freshman Lydia Micali spelled goalie Lexie Ramirez in the third and fourth quarters, holding Chelmsford scoreless.
Up next: The Patriots were scheduled to travel to Reading on September 15.

CCHS 4, Bedford 2
In their second DCL game, the Patriots convincingly defeated Bedford on September 10 in a satisfying bounceback from last year’s late-season loss to the Buccaneers.
Big game: Co-captain Brynn Chaffee scored first, followed by goals by Maddie Minkin (on an assist by Triola), Abby Ruhmann on a penalty stroke (her second such score this season), and Maddie Clancy.
Turning point: The game was scoreless until Chaffee’s second-quarter goal changed the tone.
Unsung heroes: This was decidedly a team effort, with every member of the roster taking the field and contributing to the win.

CCHS 0, Franklin 0
In a non-league matchup, the Pats held the formidable Franklin Panthers scoreless, notching a satisfying 0-0 tie on September 8.
The gritty deadlock marked an auspicious early-season outcome given Franklin’s consistent excellence (17-1 in the regular season last year) and a dramatic improvement over the Patriots’ 6-0 loss to the Panthers last September.
Big game: Ramirez and starting defenders Ally Couto, Zoë Bonzagni, and Clancy, withstood intense pressure, including myriad breakaways and corners, from a Panthers offense that became increasingly dangerous every quarter.
Unsung heroes: Midfielders, led by Chaffee and Triola, played a huge role in taming the Panthers, time and again helping to end Franklin threats then spearheading strong offensive opportunities.
