Finance Committee invites residents to explore scope of town’s operations

Our objective is to see beyond the numbers to understand the breadth of town services and to meet the people who lead them.

This summer, the Acton Finance Committee is taking a deep dive into the town’s operations with the help of Town Manager Kerry Lafleur and CFO Jennifer Barrett. Our objective is to see beyond the numbers to understand the breadth of town services and to meet the people who lead them. We invite you to join us in person, or to watch later on the Minuteman Media Network YouTube channel.

At our June 4 meeting, the town manager presented an overview of town government, and the leadership of the Finance Department presented their teams’ core responsibilities, data points, metrics, accomplishments, and goals.

On Monday, July 13, we will hear from the General Government departments: the Town Manager’s Office, Human Resources, Information Systems, Minuteman Media Network, Resource Sustainability, Economic Vitality & Tourism; Human Services: Library, Senior Services, Human Services, Veteran’s Services, Ceremonies and Celebrations, Recreation, and the Beede Center.

Thursday, August 6, will be about Public Works including Administration, Engineering, Highway Administration, Winter Maintenance, Parks and Trees, Cemetery, Facilities Administration, Stormwater, Water, Sewer, and Solid Waste.

On Thursday, September 10, we will learn about the Community Development Departments: the Planning, Natural Resources, Inspections, and Health Departments. We will also hear from the Acton Municipal Light Plant (CMLP) and its affiliated divisions including Administration, Power Supply & Energy Management, Engineering & Operations, Finance, Customer Service, Broadband.

And on Thursday, October 1, we will hear from Public Safety: Police, Fire, Emergency Management, and Emergency Communications.

Our meeting schedules are posted on the town’s website, concordma.gov, where Finance Committee agendas are found under Government, Boards and Committees, E-L.

We welcome you in person or via Zoom (link in meeting agenda), and we invite your comments and concerns, either in person or via email at [email protected].
