For safety’s sake, keep kids in the back seat
Airbags are designed for adult-size bodies and can be dangerous for children if they deploy in the front seat.
Lately I’ve seen many cars with young children riding in the front seat. Just a reminder to us parents to keep our kids in the back. Why? Airbags are designed for adult-size bodies and can be dangerous for children if they deploy in the front seat.
Although it is not the law in Massachusetts, unlike many other states, the state says, “It is recommended that children remain in the back seat until age 13.” The National Safety Council says that kids should ride in a child restraint in a rear seat until they are at least 4 feet 9 inches tall and 80 pounds.
In my experience, many children around ages 9 and 10 (or even younger) will ask to sit up front, but for safety reasons, we parents really shouldn’t give in.
