Garden Club accepting grant proposals for community enhancement projects

We would love to hear from groups with ideas for creating, restoring, or enhancing gardens and green spaces.

One of the wonderful things about living in Acton is the care our community takes in preserving and enhancing the places we all share. The Garden Club of Acton is proud to play a small part in that effort.

Through the proceeds of our annual May plant sale, the Garden Club is able to provide grants to local organizations for gardening and horticultural projects. Over the past year, we have contributed more than $16,000 to non-profit organizations and community projects throughout Acton.

These grants have supported a remarkable variety of projects — from planting at the Scout House, and all of Acton’s public schools, to projects at the Acton Museum, Acton Free Public Library, Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Gaining Ground, Acton Land Trust, Minute Man Arc, Acton Art Association, and horticultural projects at the Northeast Correctional Center.

What makes this program especially meaningful is that the money raised by Acton gardeners and plant lovers through our annual sale comes right back into the community. A garden planted at a school, a welcoming green space at a community organization, or a project that introduces people to the joys of horticulture can have an impact far beyond the initial investment.

We are now inviting local organizations to submit proposals for garden-related community projects. We would love to hear from groups with ideas for creating, restoring, or enhancing gardens and green spaces, promoting horticultural education, or caring for Acton’s natural environment.

The Garden Club of Acton is grateful to everyone who supports our plant sale and makes these grants possible. Together, we can continue to make Acton a greener, more beautiful, and more connected community.

To request a grant application or for more information, please visit our website: gardenclubofconcord.org. The deadline is October 16.
