The Acton-Carlisle girls lacrosse team scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes remaining in regulation, topping host Lincoln-Sudbury, 9-8, on April 16. The Patriots led 3-2 after one quarter, 6-4 at the half, and 8-6 after three quarters, but the Warriors evened the game with 6:12 left. The nailbiter victory kept the Patriots unbeaten six games into their season.

Team record: Overall 6-0; Dual County League 4-0

Big game: Scarlett Mirak and Vivi Miles each tallied three goals; Lindsay Cain, Bridget Fivek, and Sarah Fortier scored one apiece.

Turning point: Fortier’s goal with 4:53 remaining — after a 17-minute Patriots scoring drought — gave CCHS the lead. The Pats controlled possession for most of the time remaining with great stick work by Mirak, Cain, and Fortier.

Unsung hero: Goaltender Mamie Kosicki had seven saves, including multiple free-position saves in the final stretch.

Up next: The Pats were to take on Central Catholic on Thursday.

CCHS 19, Boston Latin 7

The Patriots traveled to South Boston on April 14 to face the Boston Latin Wolfpack for their third Dual County League game. After racing to a 6-0 first-quarter lead, the Patriots poured in another 13 goals over the last three quarters.

Big game: Mirak scored six times. Fortier and Cain were right behind her production with five and four goals, respectively.

Unsung heroes: Other scorers included Miles (two goals) and Ada Bridgman and Lizzie Sproule, with a goal each. Ella Benvenuto led the defense with three caused turnovers.
