Hiersteiner leads with inclusion, collaboration

He reflects the experiences of many younger families while remaining fully committed to representing residents of every generation.

Some people build community by talking about it. Sam Hiersteiner builds it by showing up again and again for neighbors, families, and the life of our town. That’s why I am proud to endorse him for Select Board.

Sam has a remarkable ability to bring people together and make them feel heard. Whether coaching his children’s teams, serving on the board of Gaining Ground, or welcoming neighbors to his home and table with genuine joy and delight, he leads with curiosity, openness, and deep respect for differing perspectives. He reflects the experiences of many younger families while remaining fully committed to representing residents of every generation. Sam understands that no single viewpoint should define our town, and he works to ensure everyone has a place in the conversation.

Sam is also highly qualified for this role, with more than 20 years of experience in social impact work across the private and non-profit sectors. Just as important is his deep respect for the culture and history that make Acton so meaningful. He understands that our traditions and shared identity are worth honoring and help guide thoughtful decisions for the future.

I moved to Acton as I was starting my family, and like many residents, my experience reflects just one of many ways people live and engage here. Sam values that diversity of experience and also has a personal stake in the decisions made, with young children who will feel their impact for years to come. He brings a fresh, inclusive perspective grounded in real life and long-term thinking.

Acton is strongest when leadership reflects the breadth of its residents. Sam’s commitment to inclusion, collaboration, and thoughtful care for our town makes him exactly the kind of leader I want helping guide our community forward.
