Hiersteiner’s passion for service helps ‘turn shared purpose into shared action’
I have had the privilege of serving alongside Sam and have seen the depth of his commitment to service, stewardship, and community.
I am writing to share my spirited endorsement of Sam Hiersteiner for Acton Select Board.
My family and I have had the pleasure of getting to know Sam and his family. We both joined the Acton community for similar reasons: its rich history, its emphasis on education, and, most powerfully, that people who chose to make Acton their home do so with passion and commitment to each other. Sam walks this talk, and I know he will continue to do so as a member of the Select Board.
I have had the privilege of serving alongside Sam on the board of Gaining Ground, and through that work have seen firsthand the depth of his commitment to service, stewardship, and community. Sam doesn’t simply attend meetings — he pours himself into the mission. He brings people together, invites others in, and helps turn shared purpose into shared action, whether engaging volunteers, welcoming families, cooking for Gaining Ground’s hardworking staff, or helping children understand the importance of caring for the land and one another.
His professional expertise, fresh ideas and perspectives, and his natural abilities as a community builder will inspire and bring together the myriad organizations and volunteers that make our town tick.
There are generational opportunities at our doorstep, and I believe Sam has the vision and the character to find pragmatic solutions for the next generation of Concordians to love this town as much as Sam and I do.
With hope, excitement, and gratitude,
Mike Leahy
