In praise of our town moderator
I think few would disagree that we’ve been in the capable hands of a masterful democratic shepherd.
This citizen moves that residents celebrate and honor the real star of our Town Meetings, madam moderator herself, Carmin Reiss.
Do I have a second?
I see that I do.
As the beautiful and messy ritual of our participatory democracy continues through its motions, amendments, articles, and procedures, our madam moderator is the glue that keeps us together. She eloquently reminds us of our civic responsibility, graciously keeps us on track when we wander too far, and manages our varied viewpoints with wit and charm.
Others have filled the role ably before her, and others will do so in the future, but the patience, humor, and skill of our current madam moderator are a rare gift we’re lucky to have looking after us.
I think few would disagree that we’ve been in the capable hands of a masterful democratic shepherd.
And so — although, yes, point of order, I’ve spoken before saying it — I move to call the question to a vote.
All in favor of celebrating Ms. Reiss, raise your voting slips, press your clicker button, and thank her if you see her out and about.
