In tight match, CCHS rugby squad falls to BC High, 17-12
CCHS came out with energy and intent, creating several early scoring opportunities, but couldn’t quite capitalize.

The Acton-Carlisle High School rugby team lost a hard-fought away match, 17-12, against the BC High development team on May 7, moving the Patriots to 2-2 on the season.
CCHS came out with energy and intent, creating several early scoring opportunities, but couldn’t quite capitalize. The team’s defensive structure and physicality applied pressure, leading to a try by Rhys Johnson.
The defense was particularly strong around the ruck and along the flanks. Cover tackles prevented multiple BC High try attempts.
Co-captain Sam Beal anchored the forward pack with a dominant two-way performance. He scored a try just before halftime and assisted another. Jamie Poole converted a try that briefly gave the Patriots the lead.
Coach John Garofalo praised the squad: “This was a game we could have won, but more importantly, it showed how much these players are developing — playing safely and with purpose, backing each other up, and enjoying the game.”
The team’s next match was scheduled for May 15 against Blue Hills.
