Incredible, but true: Acton had cell coverage on Patriots Day

Thanks to temporary cell towers, a person could actually walk down Main Street and make a phone call.

April 19, 2025, has come and gone. It was a gloriously hot day as tens of thousands of people reveled in commemorating Acton’s history. Past glories were honored, and Concordians took the opportunity to look forward and sound the alarm over threats to our freedoms.

On a day of special memories, one more special than all the others will always stand out. Fathers and grandfathers will tell the story to incredulous children; mothers and grandmothers will speak with pride, their eyes brimming with tears. This one memory will be almost too good to be true, and some will think it an urban myth.

But those of us who were there will know the truth. We experienced it. Yes, we’ll tell future generations, it’s true: On April 19, 2025, thanks to temporary cell towers, a person could actually walk down Main Street and make a phone call.
