It’s time for a representative Town Meeting
We shouldn’t be making decisions based on the will of the random 300 people with the stamina and spare time to show up.
Town Meeting is broken.
We saw a perfect illustration this month. Newbury Court brought in a large group of their residents to vote on an article directly related to Newbury Court (and just that article). Regardless of your feelings about that article (I am a supporter), you must agree that this is hardly democratic and not in the spirit of a Town Meeting that is supposed to reflect the will of the entire town.
We have 14,000 registered voters. We shouldn’t be making decisions based on the will of the random 300 people with the stamina and spare time to show up. It’s beyond time to switch to something else. Remote participation is not the answer. Can we please talk about switching to a representative Town Meeting?
