Join us March 15 to volunteer for a town committee

Acton’s town committees do important work — shaping policy on issues including housing, finance, natural resources, zoning, and more — and they need volunteers. If you’ve ever thought about getting involved in local government, here’s your chance.

The Select Board is hosting an open house on Sunday, March 15, from 1-2 p.m. in the Select Board Room at the Acton Town House. Come meet Select Board and committee members, learn about committee work and current openings, and find out where your interests might align.

Committees help guide decisions and advance community priorities in numerous areas including agriculture, climate action, economic vitality, historic preservation, housing, Municipal Light Plant, natural resources, planning, pollinator health, public ceremonies, public works, recreation, and zoning appeals. While some committees seek members with specific expertise (legal or financial), most simply want engaged citizens with an interest and willingness to contribute.

Committee descriptions can be found on the town website and current committee openings at: concordma.gov/739/Vacancies—Member-Positions. Additional openings also arise annually after Town Meeting.

Serving on a town committee is rewarding and provides a meaningful way to contribute to the community. Please stop by on March 15 — our town could use your help.
