Karlen Reed running for town moderator
I will be mindful of the need for Town Meeting to be transparent, encourage civil discourse, avoid repetitive statements, and respect all views.
Dear friends: I am running for town moderator, and I ask for your support in the March 31, 2026, Acton town election.
Our current town moderator, Carmin Reiss, has chosen not to seek reelection after serving for 10 years. I am well-qualified to step into her shoes and run Town Meeting in a fair and impartial manner for the public good.
As an attorney for over 40 years, a 16-year Acton resident, and a League member, I know the importance of Town Meeting laws, rules, traditions, and connections. My husband and I enjoy living in Acton with our neighbors; our son and daughter-in-law are CCHS graduates. I am serving my third year on the Acton Finance Committee and understand the financial underpinnings of our town and school budgets. I worked with the town clerk’s office as the election poll worker coordinator and warden for the past five years. I helped develop our town’s TV station (MMN) as chair of the PEG Access Committee, and I volunteer as a tax-aide preparer with AARP at the Council on Aging.
Town Meeting provides Acton voters with a rare opportunity to consider, debate, and vote on town and school spending articles, zoning bylaw changes, and other measures critical to running our town. At all times I will be mindful of the need for Town Meeting to be transparent, encourage civil discourse, avoid repetitive statements, and respect all views.
Thank you for your consideration and vote. Please contact me at [email protected] for more information about my campaign and service.
