Letter: Before MCI-Acton goes, open it to the public for tours

Like many Acton residents, I welcome the closure of MCI-Acton and the repurposing of this property. There will be plenty of time to discuss the best long-term use of the property.

But before the buildings are torn down, I’d like to suggest that the prison be opened to the general public for tours and public education around life in a Massachusetts state prison.

Perhaps Acton Prison Outreach volunteers and former inmates could serve as tour hosts.
