Library’s book sale a huge success in raising funds and holiday spirit

This year’s sale was one of our most successful yet, in large part because of all the wonderful dedicated volunteers.

The holiday season in Acton seems to “officially” begin each year when the doors open for the Friends of the Acton Free Public Library’s annual Holiday Book Sale. It’s a tradition that brings together readers, neighbors, and visitors from near and far, all united by a shared love of books and community.

This year’s sale was one of our most successful yet, surpassing last year’s record number — raising over $24,000, in large part because of all the wonderful dedicated volunteers who help make the magic happen. These volunteers work year-round to cultivate an excellent selection of books, records, CDs, etc., that are all gift quality. We are deeply grateful to the Acton community and our surrounding towns for the tremendous support. The proceeds directly fund programs that serve every corner of our population — from early readers discovering their first favorite stories to, shall we say, the seasoned among us who come seeking insight, enrichment, and good company.

Of course, the book sale is about far more than just revenue. What makes this event special is the way it brings people together. The conversations between strangers over a shared favorite author, the volunteers who return year after year, the families who make the sale part of their holiday tradition — all of it reflects what sets our community apart. Acton has long believed in the power of literature and education to elevate and connect us, and this event is a joyful expression of that belief.

On behalf of the Friends, thank you for helping us ring in the season with such enthusiasm and goodwill. We are proud to be part of a town where the love of learning continues to flourish, and where community remains at the heart of every celebration.
