Longtime library trustee Mario Favorito’s legacy an inspiration to our community
Mario’s volunteer service will continue to make a difference to our community for years to come.
The trustees of the Acton Free Public Library Corp. — Jeff Adams, Rick Briggs, Laurence Constable, Pam Gannon, Ted Hanselman, Sherry Litwack, Elise Woodward, and Yumi Yasutake — would like to recognize and honor the life of our dear friend and colleague Mario Favorito, who passed away this month at age 88.
Mario served as a trustee of the Library Corporation for over 25 years, was deeply involved with many other important town affairs over his 56 years as a Acton resident, and was selected as Acton’s Honored Citizen in 2024. He is the epitome of a life well lived with positivity, appreciation, and humility.
One of his favorite quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson reflects a guiding principle of his life: “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” Mario’s volunteer service will continue to make a difference to our community for years to come. And we hope that his example will inspire Acton residents to volunteer for the things they care about.
