Maisey O’Donnell training room could shift high school parking

The current design would require relocating some parking spaces currently on the Acton-Carlisle campus.

The regional School Committee is considering a parking lot update at the high school to support building a training room dedicated to late state diving champion Maisey O’Donnell at the Beede Swim & Fitness Center.

School Committee Chair Tracey Marano said town officials, school administrators, and the project’s design team recently met during the schematic design phase to review plans for the facility.

The current design would require relocating some parking spaces currently on the Acton-Carlisle High School campus.

Any final design changes would require School Committee approval.

The design team is also studying whether adding parking areas would trigger permitting requirements tied to impervious-surface limits on the property.

Marano said the timeline could be affected if an appeal process is required, though she said a potential opening “maybe next spring or summer” remains possible if approvals move forward quickly.

Even a spring 2027 opening would fall behind a tentative target of Thanksgiving 2026 that O’Donnell’s parents suggested earlier this year.

Marano noted the project is expected to move faster than a typical municipal project, because it is a public-private partnership.

O’Donnell and fellow Acton-Carlisle High School seniors Jimmy McIntosh and Hannah Wasserman lost their lives in a car accident in Florida over the 2025 spring break.
