Public ceremonies committee seeking volunteer members

Our town’s most cherished traditions are made possible by neighbors who lend their time, creativity, and heart.

Our town’s most cherished traditions don’t run on autopilot. They’re made possible by neighbors who lend their time, creativity, and heart. The Public Ceremonies and Celebrations Committee (PCCC) is seeking new members to help plan and lead community events that define who we are.

From the Honored Citizen and Meriam’s Corner Exercises to Patriots Day, Dawn Salute, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day, the PCCC coordinates the details that turn history and gratitude into living moments. Parades that form up on time, wreaths that are laid with dignity, and ceremonies that welcome every resident. If you enjoy walking, logistics, outreach, budgeting, or simply rolling up your sleeves on event day, there’s a role for you.

The Select Board appoints seven voting members for staggered three-year terms, and the Committee may also request non-voting associate members to support specific events as an excellent on-ramp if you’re new to town service. Prior experience isn’t required; commitment and teamwork are. Meetings are conducted in accordance with open-government laws, and you’ll collaborate closely with public safety and other town departments.

Interested residents are encouraged to submit a brief statement of interest to the current Public Ceremonies Committee via [email protected].

Help us keep these traditions vibrant and make a visible difference in our civic life.
