Redmond wins Sectionals, will compete for state crown
C-C golfer Sophie Redmond captured the individual title at the MIAA North/Central Women’s Sectional Championship.

Acton-Carlisle golfer Sophie Redmond posted a 2-under 69 on Tuesday, capturing the individual title at the MIAA North/Central Women’s Sectional Championship. With the win, she moves on to the State Championship Tournament on Monday at Indian Pond Country Club in Plymouth.
After finding herself 2 over par early on, Redmond responded with a series of confident swings and crucial saves. A defining moment came on Hole 4 when her drive found a water hazard. She responded with a shot onto the green before two-putting to save par.
Redmond’s putter became the story of the day. On Hole 13, she drained a 35-foot birdie putt that energized her push toward the top of the leaderboard. One hole later, she birdied from about 25 feet. The back-to-back birdies were pivotal.
“Both felt really good, because I had been 2-over and had quickly recovered back to even,” Redmond said.
