Remington helps Team Massachusetts’ boys squad place third in Alpine Easterns

Last weekend’s event, held at Attitash Bear Peak in New Hampshire, included 94 boys from 10 teams drawn from 13 Eastern states.

The Acton Bridge Sports Roundup

Acton-Carlisle skier Theo Remington notched strong first runs in both slalom and giant slalom to contribute to Team Massachusetts’ third-place finish in the Eastern High School Championships held last weekend. The event, held at Attitash Bear Peak in New Hampshire, included 94 boys from 10 teams drawn from 13 Eastern states.

  • Big day: Remington posted a strong 14th-place finish in giant slalom on Saturday, March 7. He followed that on Sunday, March 2, with an exhilarating second-place run of 41.41 seconds.
  • Turning points: Hopes of improving Remington’s placement in giant slalom were dashed Saturday when the second run was canceled due to heavy, unrelenting fog at the top of the course. On Sunday in slalom, Remington’s second run started strong, but he took a hard fall near the course’s end.
  • Game changer: Remington’s two finishes contributed to the team effort, in which a team’s top six racers’ times from each run are counted in team scoring. The deep Massachusetts boys team finished third, behind No. 1 New Hampshire and No. 2 Maine.

Help The Bridge cover CCHS spring sports

Warmer weather is just around the corner, and that means a new season for Acton-Carlisle High School sports.

We’re looking for parents, schoolmates, coaches, and fans to provide brief recaps and/or photos to The Bridge. There’s an array of sports to choose from: baseball, lacrosse, softball, tennis, and track and field.

Patriots athletes are giving it their all, and we want Concordians to know about it. Get in touch with us today to volunteer.

Our straightforward recap format makes it easy for contributors to pull together written highlights. Photographers, send us three or four high-resolution pictures per game or meet, with captions, and you’re set.

Consistent commitment matters. We and our readers count on our dedicated sports volunteers every week to give Patriots teams the recognition they deserve.

Please email Managing Editor Rob Reinalda at [email protected] to sign up for recaps and/or photography of a team.

Thank you for helping us showcase CCHS athletes’ achievements.
